When designing the Acronyms website, the primary focus was on modernising their online presence to reinforce their position as a forward-thinking IT support company. We made a conscious effort to play with whitespaces, using negative space to create a clean, uncluttered look and feel. Paired with other UI elements, such as clear calls to action and strategically placed testimonials and case studies, this deliberate design choice directs the user’s attention to the most important content, resulting in a site that is both visually appealing and engaging.
A key feature of Acronyms’ website is the consistent structure used across many of the pages. This ensures a cohesive and intuitive experience for users, with familiar layouts simplifying navigation, reducing cognitive load and streamlining user journeys. We also implemented booking forms on every page, reinforcing the website’s role as an effective tool for client engagement and lead generation.
WordPress Development
The Acronyms website was built on WordPress using a bespoke theme developed specifically for their needs. By avoiding generic page builders, we ensured the site delivers optimal performance, security and functionality. We also implemented custom WordPress admin functions to simplify backend tasks, giving the Acronyms team full control over their website.

Our Approach
Google Ads Campaigns
In addition to our SEO work, we’ve been running targeted Google Ads campaigns for Acronyms since September of last year. Focusing on areas around their offices in Plymouth, Bristol and Cornwall, as well as the wider Devon region, our goal has been to drive relevant leads and increase traffic to their website through paid media.
Google Ads Audit
Acronyms had launched several campaigns in the past, but they brought in a lot of non-converting traffic. We conducted a thorough Google Ads audit, analysing keyword performance to refine targeting and identify high-performing search terms. We also reviewed competitor campaigns to better position Acronyms’ ads.
Responsive Search Ads
Following the discovery phase, we proposed four Responsive Search ad campaigns and trialled two within their budget. One focused on broad search terms to reach a wider audience, while the other targeted more specific search intent. Both campaigns are geotargeted, ensuring ads reach potential clients within a radius of Acronyms’ offices and the wider Devon area.
Campaign Optimisation
We perform daily maintenance on Acronyms’ Google Ads to ensure their budget is used as effectively as possible. This includes refining ad copy, adjusting bids and managing a negative keyword list to maintain a competitive cost-per-click (CPC). By monitoring performance closely and making data-driven adjustments, we’ve been able to drive quality traffic and help Acronyms connect with businesses looking for expert IT support.
Results
Increased Brand Exposure
In just four months of managing Acronyms’ Google Ads, our campaigns have generated 25,000 views. This increased exposure helps reinforce Acronyms’ position as a trusted IT support provider and keeps them in front of potential clients at the right time.
Higher Engagement and Click-Through Rates
Before we took over, Acronyms’ Google Ads had a click-through rate (CTR) of just 0.29%. After restructuring and refining their campaigns, the average CTR has increased to 8%. With more users clicking through to the website, Acronyms is seeing stronger engagement from businesses actively searching for IT solutions.
Significant Growth in Conversions
One of the most notable successes so far is the impact on conversions. In just four months, 42% of the total conversions Acronyms has achieved since first running Google Ads in 2013 have come under our management. With a more effective approach to paid media, Acronyms is now generating more valuable leads while making the most of their advertising budget.
More Efficient Budget Use
By actively managing Acronyms’ campaigns, we’ve helped them maintain a competitive CPC while reducing wasted ad spend on irrelevant searches. This means more of their budget goes towards reaching businesses genuinely interested in their services, leading to higher-quality leads and better overall return on investment.
Photography
As part of the website design, we helped direct a photoshoot at Acronyms’ Plymouth headquarters, capturing authentic, high-quality images of their team and workspace. Their old website relied heavily on stock photos, which didn’t fully represent their company culture. To create a more genuine experience for visitors, we recommended using real imagery that connects them with the people behind the business.
Rather than staged or overly formal shots, we opted for a natural, candid approach. This was an intentional choice to align with Acronyms’ ethos: delivering honest, approachable IT advice and support. By capturing the team in their everyday working environment, the website now feels more personal and true to Acronyms’ brand.
